Tattoos breach the skin, which means that skin infections and other complications are possible, including:

  • Allergic reactions. Tattoo dyes — especially red, green, yellow and blue dyes — can cause allergic skin reactions, such as an itchy rash at the tattoo site. This can occur even years after you get the tattoo.
  • Skin infections. A skin infection is possible after tattooing.
  • Other skin problems. Sometimes an area of inflammation called a granuloma can form around tattoo ink. Tattooing also can lead to keloids — raised areas caused by an overgrowth of scar tissue.
  • Bloodborne diseases. If the equipment used to create your tattoo is contaminated with infected blood, you can contract various bloodborne diseases — including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
  • MRI complications. Rarely, tattoos or permanent makeup might cause swelling or burning in the affected areas during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exams. In some cases, tattoo pigments can interfere with the quality of the image.

Medication or other treatment might be needed if you experience an allergic reaction to the tattoo ink or you develop an infection or other skin problem near a tattoo.

Make sure you're ready

Before you get a tattoo, think carefully about it. If you're unsure or worried that you might regret it, give it more time. Don't allow yourself to be pressured into getting a tattoo, and don't get a tattoo if you're under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Choose the location of the tattoo carefully. Consider whether you want the option to hide your tattoo under clothing. Also remember that weight gain — including pregnancy weight gain — might distort the tattoo or affect its appearance.

Insist on safety precautions

To make sure your tattoo will be applied safely, ask these questions:

  • Who does the tattooing? Go to a reputable tattooing studio that employs only properly trained employees. Keep in mind that regulation requirements and licensing standards vary from state to state. Check with your city, county or state health department for information on local licensing and regulations.
  • Does the tattoo artist wear gloves? Make sure the tattoo artist washes his or her hands and wears a fresh pair of protective gloves for each procedure.
  • Does the tattoo artist use proper equipment? Make sure the tattoo artist removes the needle and tubes from sealed packages before your procedure begins. Any pigments, trays or containers should be unused as well.
  • Does the tattoo artist sterilize nondisposable equipment? Make sure the tattoo artist uses a heat sterilization machine (autoclave) to sterilize all nondisposable equipment between customers. Instruments and supplies that can't be sterilized with an autoclave — including drawer handles, tables and sinks — should be disinfected with a commercial disinfectant or bleach solution after each use.

Take good care of your tattoo

How you care for your new tattoo depends on the type and extent of work done. Typically, however, you'll need to:

  • Keep the tattooed skin clean. Use plain soap and water and a gentle touch. While showering, avoid direct streams of water on the newly tattooed skin. Pat — don't rub — the area dry.
  • Use moisturizer. Apply a mild moisturizer to the tattooed skin several times a day.
  • Avoid sun exposure. Keep the tattooed area out of the sun for at least a few weeks.
  • Avoid swimming. Stay out of pools, hot tubs, rivers, lakes and other bodies of water while your tattoo is healing.
  • Choose clothing carefully. Don't wear anything that might stick to the tattoo.
  • Allow up to 2 weeks for healing. Don't pick at any scabs, which increases the risk of infection and can damage the design and cause scarring.

If you think your tattoo might be infected or you're concerned that your tattoo isn't healing properly, contact your doctor. If your tattoo isn't what you expected and you're interested in tattoo removal, ask your dermatologist about laser surgery or other options for tattoo removal.

For me tattoo is bad and a true Christian has like the body he or she has.

God doesn't like tattoo God wants to live a heavenly life not a worldly life. The Bible says be holy because I am holy and our body is the temple of God, any worldly things should be done with our body.

Tattoo this days is part of fashion. Tattoo can cause skin cancer.  Men and women can have tattoos this days.

So I endeavour us children of God to stop doing things of the world, especially drawing tattoos on the body.

Tattoos on the other hand is demonic so children of God should never think of drawing tattoo on the body.

Thank you.

Firstly tattoos are beautiful, no matter how bad you feel you can hate them, they are still beautiful ( not talking of those that decided to write down a particular quote on their skin, but those with pictures and symbols).

Tattoo is a form of body modification where a design is made by inserting inks, dyes and pigments either for permanent or temporary reasons, into the dermis layer of the skin to change the pigment of that particular skin area being worked on. Some people get tattoos for symbolic reasons, for example to show love, to prove love, to honor a deceased and even in the house of God some people use it to proclaim that they are in Christ.

Tattoos requires breaking the skin barrier, it causes alot of health issues ranging from skin infection to allergic reactions. Of recent researchers have linked a good news to tattooing, in some people it can help improve their immune system, helping them stay healthy.

Tattoo dyes can cause allergic reactions to the skin such as an itchy rash. This can still happen even after years of getting a tattoo. Also you can get a skin infection due to the fact that the needles used might have not been sterilized well.

What does the Bible say about tattoos:
In the book of Leviticus 19:28 which says " you shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any mark on you: I am the lord". When we do otherwise we are disobeying God's word.

You can't go to hell for having a tattoo but for not repenting of your sins. When you find out after studying the word that you have made a mistake (tattooing), you go on your knees and ask God for forgiveness. Do not let anyone tell you because of your tattoos you are going to hell.

Another bible verse that talks about us defying our body is the book of 1 Cor 6:19-20 which says " or do you not know that your body is a temple of the holy spirit who is in you, for you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God with your body".

Finally, we should not look down on people who have tattoos, I believe they tattoos are a sin but I am not God to judge anyone.

 Tatoo is not a taboo

The warriors wear them
In ancient times as they
Rambled.

They sang the song
Of war,
Victory was in their
Lips and their runes
Was on their backs

Diving the sacred seas
The mountains born
of beauty gave them
Approval.

They alone,
Saw this beautiful
Mystery, that looks like
Nothing natural

The wolf tribe
Of the northern
Mountains, came to
The gathering.

On their chest
was the painting
 of their moon goddess
Of whom I have heard
My history of how she
Tricked the humans into
A being beasts

They valley of cush
They came in their
White linen. The
Symbol of unity.

Prophesy has it
 that they will rule Africa
This i see take place as
They have risen in wisdom
Over time

Their wise one sat close
To the wall and sang that
ancient song, again I look
At his ear and saw the
Piercing image of the Battle
 axe

Tattoo is a form of a body modification where a design is made by inserting ink, dyes and Pigment. Tattoos can be permanent or temporary.

Tattoos are known mostly for beautification and it also has it's own side effects.
1* Being Allergic To The Ink
Classic pigments and their products are used in tattooing, these pigments are responsible for these kind of allergic reactions with permanent tattoos.
When a foreign substance is introduced into the skin during tattoo it can cause a toxic response. This reaction can occur shortly after the tattoo or years later.

2* Skin Infections
Apart from scarring, Tattoos may also cause other skin infections such as rashes. These can be easily treated with medication and will fade overtime. Areas around a tattoo can be infected with a sterile needle, it may take some time for the negative effects to show.

3* The Judgment
People with Tattoos are being constantly judged.Tattoos can be emotionally taxing though many get tattoos as a result of emotional rebellion. Tattoo can cause a lot of emotional harassment, even from people close to us. It may also be perceived as a mark of unprofessional behavior in a workplace, and one may have to always keep their tattoos covered.
Advice for those getting tattoos and to those about to get one, one should be emotionally ready to deal with any and all complications just as effortlessly as the appreciation that a tattoo may bring.

@Toxyron:

Tattoo is never  a problem to whoever desires it. However, people should take their time to investigate the side effects associated with the inscription of tattoos on their bodies. ALso, they should consider the society in which they live and the perception that they have about tattoos.

For instance, in place like Nigeria, Tattoos are used as a too by security operatives to profile people. There is the general perception that tattoos are mostly used by clutists, thieves and other people that engage in anti-social activities. So, they most time arrest and interrogate people with tattoo inscription on their bodies at every given opportunity. Sometimes thay manhandled and embarrass them just because of tattoo.

So, if you're living in a country like Nigeria, it is advisable that you stay away from inscribing tattoos on your body to avoid police constant harassment. It is even worst, if such a person finds himself in a place where a crime was committed and was accused or taken as a suspect.

It is a local type of tattooing. Our forefathers wanted to be fashionable and not just fashionable but obviously fashionable, that is why they Decided to put the mark on the face( very bold, so that people can see it). # joking# but I have heard grandma's comment on it, telling their kids that they look beautiful or handsome with the mark. It must have also been a way of improving ones beauty in those days.

What most people put on today as clothes are amazing. What we have today is not only a display of insanity but acting the script written by agents of the devil. What is the purpose of putting on clothes? We are so grateful to God for the inspiration of the Holy Spirit on men, to write the Bible. The Holy Spirit carefully addresses all issues of life with practically no exemption. After the fall of man in the Garden of Eden (Gen 3), the glory of God which surrounded him departed from him because God cannot stand sin. Shame and reproach came upon man and his nakedness was exposed. However, God in his infinite mercy provided a clothing of animal skin to cover the nakedness of Adam and his lovely wife, Eve (Gen 3). We can see from God’s word that the main purpose of putting on clothes is to cover nakedness. It is important at this point to note that God is a God of variety (James 1:2, Psalm 8:28) we can see that in the flowers, trees, animals and even in humans. If we look at the flowers carefully and see the beautiful clothes and designs on them, we will appreciate the fashionable mind of God. But we must draw a line between fashion, nakedness and pure insanity.

These agents of the devil have programmed the minds of people with clothes designed from the water with sole purpose of exposing the nakedness of woman. The devil has succeeded in capturing the mind of the designers with most of them being either gays or lesbians and has used them to carry out his mission.

Tattoo is simply the way different types of inscriptions are placed on the body or on the skin and these inscriptions are meant for different meanings and symbols which carries different messages to different kinds of people.

To some people or set of people these bodily inscriptions are for passing message from generation unto another generation, to another group it is meant for fashion while other groups uses it for different other purposes.

If we look at the source or the origin of tattoo itself we will discover that bodily inscriptions has been in practice even generations untold back to the times of the Israelites in the holy scriptures because God instructed the Israelites then in the old testament.

God gave the children of Israel instructions not to inscribe any mark in their body because it has its meaning. It is from then that it has been going on and on and other tribes and countries practices it and uses it on their skin.

If we are familiar with some Roman epic films, it will be noticed that even the Romans inscribe some marks on the body of their slaves denoting that they are slaves and those slaves belongs to a certain elite in the society or that the slaves should be slaves forever.

The Roman soldiers inscribes names also on the body of the dead rebellion slaves or enemies so as to give likely warnings and a message of supremacy that every or any opposition from any nation or country should be vaware of what would be done.

Today's tattoos are majorly meant for fashion and others for different groups like cult members, rascals, harlots and others.

Tattoo designs were beautifully done in the past as part of African tradition. As time went on , it became abused and this made a lot of people detest it.

Sometime ago, my husband came across a guy who had his hands completely covered with tattoo. Somehow, my husband noticed that this guy wasn't quite comfortable with the long sleeve shirt he was wearing and kept trying to cover the parts of his hands that were tattoed.

My husband, being curious  privately approached him( in the banking mall where they both met ) and engaged the young man in a friendly conversation.

The summary is that, my husband got to find out  the guy used to love tattoos but now he didn't anymore and unfortunately for him, it couldn't be wiped off. So he resorts to wearing more of long sleeve shirts than short sleeves.

What a self inflicted problem!
That is the problem with most tattoo freaks today but you may never know if you've not heard of a story like the one I just narrated.

Be careful of what you fall in love with in the name of fashion because what you see as fashionable today might become outdated or a burden to you on the near future.

Well from my own point of view, I think carving tattoos on your body is a bad Idea.

The Bible says know ye now that your body is the temple of God in 1 Corinthians 6:19.

Why would a man just decide to defy the temple of God by putting on tattoos in his body.

Such habits are habits of the western world and they should not be encouraged in this part of the world.

One of the problem of tattoo is that it is not for all people, for example it is very and more beautiful with people of color, white skin people. And it doesn't out off after you have done it.

Tattoos are neither good nor bad. The decision to get a tattoo is a personal one and depends on individual beliefs, religion, and other factors.
Some religions like Christianity are against tattoos and other religions too.
Some people may view tattoos as a form of self-expression or art, while others may view them as unprofessional or inappropriate. There are also potential health risks associated with tattoos, such as infection, allergic reactions, and scarring, especially if they are not done safely or with proper precautions.
Additionally, some professional workplaces like the banks and hospitals may have policies regarding visible tattoos, so it's important to consider any potential consequences before getting one.
