WHY DO PEOPLE ABANDON GOD?

Read: 2 Chronicles 12:1-16
_[1]And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.[2]And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,[3]With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.[4]And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.[5]Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.[6]Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and they said, The LORD is righteous.[7]And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.[8]Nevertheless they shall be his servants that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.[9]So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.[10]Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's house.[11]And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.[12]And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.[13]So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.[14]And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.[15]Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.[16]And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead._

MEMORISE: When Rehoboam had established the kingdom and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him. (2 Chronicles 12:1)

EXPOSITION
How can people, once they are aware of God, even consider abandoning Him? What led to Rehoboam, son of Solomon to abandon God during his reign? While the writer of king also reports the attack of Shishak on Jerusalem, the Chronicler alone adds the reason for the invasion was because of forsaking the command of God (vv. 1-2,5). There were three possible reasons why Rehoboam abandoned God:
1. Prosperity: In his days of adversity, Rehoboam obeyed the Lord. When he was warned not to go to fight against his fellow Israelites, because to do so, would be equal to fighting against God's will, the Bible says that he and his people obeyed the Lord (2 Chro. 11:4). Afterwards, his obedience was rewarded, because, the only two tribes he was left with - Judah and Benjamin, were blessed by the Lord. The principle is that, the you walk in obedience, the Lord propers you. That is, obedience brings prosperity. This is not limited to a financial prosperity I know people who are financially buoyant, but are paupers in other areas of life. Gradually, he became uncontrollable and unmanageable to God.
2. Power: Prosperity and power go together. Because God prospered Rehoboam, militarily he became powerful. He built up defences in several towns and cities, including Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa, Beth Zur, Soco, Adullam, Gath, Mareshah, Ziph, Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah, Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron. (2 Ch 11:5ff).
3. Popularity: Because Rehoboam prospered, his prosperity attained him power. Because he was powerful, obviously he became popular among people, both internally and internationally. Sadly, at the height of his popularity and power, the king abandoned the Lord! (2 Chr. 12:2,5) Abandonment is a direct opposite of "seeking the Lord" (2 Chr. 12:14). Often, it is more difficult to be a believer in good times than in bad one. Tough, times push us toward God but easy times can makes us feel self-sufficient and self-satisfied.
4. Check your life: How was it when you newly got converted? Now that you have "arrived' and recorded some feats, who is God to you. Check yourself (Prov. 30:8,9 Gal. 1:6)

PRAYER POINTS
1. Give God praise for all the blessing He has graciously brought into your life.
2. Pray against the Spirit that abandon God.
3. Confess that in season and out of season, by God's grace you will never forsake Him.

CHRIST APOSTOLIC CHURCH WORLWIDE.
SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON.
THE UNITY OF THE BRETHREN
Unit One: BEFORE AND AFTER CREATION.
LESSON THREE
August 16 & 23, 2020

TOPIC: UNITY OF ADAM AND EVE

Memory Scripture

And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man"

(Genesis 2:23).

Adam and Eve were united as a home, before and after the fall. God expects families to be united, no matter the situation they are in.

BRIEF COMMENT
God had earlier created man (Adam) (Gen. 1:27; 2:7). However, the 'them' in Gen. 1:28 carries the idea of plurality. No wonder the Scripture make it clear that God created male and female, right in Adam from the beginning (1:27; 5:2). The all-knowing God who knows the end from beginning, knew the implication of loneliness on the blissful existence of the man He had graciously created, hence God's conclusion in 2:18. This resulted in the bringing out of the female that had earlier on been made in the male (vv. 20-22). What a loving God!

The female was brought to Adam who had been made to sleep so deeply (such sleep would obviously be made than what man's limited faculty can fathom). On sighting the woman, he spontaneously exclaimed, 'This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. The tone carries an aura of excitement and gratitude to God for bailing him out of the obvious loneliness (vv. 19,20). He joyfully accepted what God gave him. How grateful to God are you for your spouse? Until gratitude and joy are there, you can't find unity with your spouse easy.

Adam accepted that she was taken out of him. Thus, he saw her as part of him that he could relate and agree with (cf. Amos 3:3) --- that is the foundation of unity in marriage. He called her the right name --- woman, not an animal. After all, he had earlier named the other creatures. How you see your spouse determines what you call him/her, and what you call him/her determines the level of your agreement and unity. Adam and Eve were united to the end, even in the worst of experiences. Spouse must learn from this.

Devotional Bible Readings For Week One
Mon.   10:  He Creates Them Make And Female (Mat. 19:4)
Tue.    11:  He Shall Stick To His Wife (Mat. 19:5)
Wed.   12:  Henceforth, They Are One Flesh (Mat. 19:6)
Thur.   13:  Hepp Yourself Against Satan's Lies (Jn. 8:44)
Fri.      14:  Avoid Divorce, Separation Like Plague (1 Cor. 7:10,11)
Sat.     15:  Avoid Mind Pollution By God's Grace (2 Cor. 11:3)

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
1.  When there is a common goal to achieve, you should submerge your personal interest and pay the price.

2.  A godliness marriage is one that might not get to its desired haven. God desires that spouses have common goals --- godly, God-glorifying ones. And when these are set out, each of the spouses should let the overall best interest of the couple/marriage prevail in all they do. That means sacrifice on the parts of the partners. Are we ready for such?

BACKGROUND SCRIPTURES: Matthew 19:4-6

AIM AND OBJECTIVES
AIM: To show beneficial it is for partners in Christian marriage to the united in God's purpose, come what may.

OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, it is expected that the readers should be able to:
i.   Show that God has made everything to facilitate oneness/unity among spouses;
ii.  show from the Scripture, the implication of the nakedness-without-shame of Adam on the openness of spouses to each other in marriage;
iii. show from Adam and Eve's experience that nothing should make spouses to unite against God; and
iv.  Prove that God expects spouses to still be united, even when going through difficult times, as demonstrated in Adam and Eve's experience.

INTRODUCTION
TEXTUAL SOURCE: GENESIS 2:15-25; 3:1-22
We appreciate God for the second lesson we have undergone, UNITY IN CREATION (Gen. 1:1-31). We have leant how God created the heaven, the earth, and all things therein, starting from the light up to the creation of man in His own image. God created all in wisdom (Psa. 104:24), for His glory, greatness, power and honour, so that all God's creatures may yield fruits after their kind and that the world may be full of His creatures.

THE UNITY OF ADAM AND EVE is the topic for the third lesson that we shall go through for the two weeks. In the lesson, we shall deliberate on how Adam and Eve were in unity in creation and even in the heat of their downfall and judgment that was tempered with mercy, and their excommunication from the Garden of Eden. The truth is, unity can be for, or against God, hence the need to be on the side of God always, even in our different matrimonies.

May God open our spiritual eyes so that we can see the mysteries that He hid in His Word from the foundation of the world. Amen.

INTRODUCTION TO EACH DIVISION
This lesson is divided into two sections, I and II. Each of the sections is further divided into A and B.

DIVISION I: UNITY OF THE FIRST CREATURE:
This section has 2 parts: A. Unity In Marriage; and B. Unity With, And In God's Glory. It deeply considers Genesis 2:18-25 as its scriptural basis. God didn't want man to feel the pangs of loneliness. So, He providentially and perfectly made a helpmeet for him, in the person of Eve. Everything God created is good. This evident in the person of Eve. Everything God created is good. This is evident in the bliss and joy that heralded the coming of the woman --- the man joyfully and satisfactorily accepted God's gift, and both of them lived in unity, oneness and opened.

DIVISION II: UNITY AFTER THE FALL:
The second of this lesson discusses Genesis 3:1-21; 4:1-2. To do this well, it has been broken down into 2 parts, as well: A. Unity In Downfall; and B. Unity In, And After Judgment. One would have expected that Adam would have refused to eat the fruit with his fallen wife, but he ate it, and they both fell as sinners in the hands of an angry God. Part A shows the implications of or lessons from this. Part B shows the continued unity between the spouses despite their fall. This indicts couples today, who always want to back out at the sight of any little problem.

LESSON OUTLINE
I.   UNITY OF THE FIRST CREATURES
     A.  UNITY IN MARRIAGE
     B.  UNITY WITH, AND IN GOD'S GLORY

II.  UNITY AFTER THE FALL
     A.  UNITY IN DOWNFALL
     B.  UNITY IN, AND AFTER JUDGEMENT

LESSON EXPOSITION
I.   UNITY OF THE FIRST CREATURES (Genesis 2:18-25)
August 16th, 2020
Who were the first creatures in this respect? Adam and Eve. They were the first created human beings and the first couple, first parents on earth. How did they achieve the unity that brought glory to God? How were they united that God chose to visit them in the cool of the day? Let us see from God's Word.

A.  UNITY IN MARRIAGE (vv. 18-25)
And the Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him" (v. 18).
i.   v. 18: God created Adam, and for a period, he was lonely in the Garden of him. So, God determined to make a helpmeet for him.
ii.  Sometimes after man's creation, God, in line with His eternal programme, saw that it was time to remove loneliness from Adam. Meanwhile, God had brought all the animals to Adam to name them (vv. 19,20). He couldn't find any of these as a mate, hence the feeling of being the only one of his kind among God's creatures.
iii. vv. 21-22: God launched Adam into a deep sleep and brought out what He had already provisionally put in man. He removed one of his ribs that secured his soul, to make the woman. On bringing her to him, Adam couldn't hide his joy: This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh... Because she was taken out of Man (Gen. 2:23).
iv.  The fact that Eve was brought forth from inside of Adam logically suggests the indispensability of unity and oneness among them. Is there unity in your home?
v.  vv. 24,25: And they shall become one flesh carries the connotation of unity that goes beyond just sexual oneness. The nakedness in v. 25 shows that the man and his wife have to be both united with and open to each other in all things. Is that true of your marital relationship?
vi. God's will has always been unity in marriage, not two people living together and having totally different and separate lifestyle. ... be joined to his wife means to be fastened or glued together in unity. When the husband and wife are in agreement in their walk with God, that makes a threefold cord that connote be easily broken (Eccl. 4:9-12).
vii. Nothing less than being united in marriage appeals to God. Only a united couple can receive God's favour and blessings. Don't work against God's desire for your home. Close your ranks with your spouse, if any, so that you can enjoy His favour in special ways.

B.  UNITY WITH, AND IN GOD'S GLORY (2:25)
And they were both naked, the man and his wife and were not ashamed (v. 25).
i.   When God made the first couple. Adam and Eve, they were both naked but were not ashamed of themselves. Why? The glory and holiness of God enveloped them and make them holy, perfect, and sinless, thus enabling them to cooperate with, and be in unity with God. God's presence radiated His glory (Shekinah) upon them (cf. Psa. 8:5; Isa. 60:1), to the extent that they didn't even know they were naked.
ii.  Adam didn't speak the words recorded in verses 24,25. They are God's words on the event of their joining; His expression over Adam and Eve regarding His glory upon them, facilitated by their being united in Him.
iii. Being naked and not ashamed shows a sinless life before the Lord. It is the state of integrity evidenced in being open to God and each other (cf. Acts 24:16). When nakedness and shame are the order of the day, it shows sin has crept in, and the glory is gone (cf. Gen. 3:10). Are you still carrying the glory of God upon you through His Son?
iv. Complying with God in unity brings God's glory. Let us live and be in unity with God by being holy, living a sin-free and cooperating with God.
v.  Nakedness in this regard, means openness. It means lack of unnecessary secrecy or hypocrisy among spouses. It is the state of not hiding anything, from one's spouse. Is that the case in your home? Repent and do the right things, now!

LESSONS DERIVED
1. When there is unity between the spouses, there will be peace at home in church, the society as well as the nation. Work out unity in your home.
2.  When Adam and Eve were in unity with God, His glory overshadowed them. This is God's plan for man. Don't disengage from God. The result is suicidal.

WORK TO DO
Is it possible to unite with God and convey His glory to the world, when there is no peace and harmony at home?

SUGGESTED ANSWER TO WORK TO DO
i.   The answer is capital 'NO'.
ii.  God is not the author of confusion (1 Cor. 14:33). He doesn't live with confusionists. The home where there is no peace and harmony is a place of confusion that cannot welcome God's peaceful presence.
iii. God desires that we pursue peace with all men (Rom. 12:18,19; Heb. 12:14). How then would He choose to work with spouses who are not in peace and harmony with each other?
iv.  Our God is the God of Peace --- the Prince of Peace. His glory in the world is symbolic with peace. Those to convey His glory are peace-loving and peacemaking people.
v.   Go through the Scripture and you would see that families where God's glory is manifested, most especially, through their children, are those of couples who choose to stick together, regardless of the situation. Remember Abraham and Sarah, and Zachariah and Elizabeth.

C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON
*God in the Administration of Man*
Unit Three: THROUGH THE KINGS.
LESSON TEN
PART TWO
May 31st, 2020.

*II.    ISRAEL DIVIDED (1 Kings 12:1-33; 13:1-10)*
God Himself orchestrated the division of the Kingdom He brought together by Himself. This is a proof that He can discipline How own people, even after they have enjoyed His unlimited blessings and covering. This also shows to us that God is the Almighty who can do what pleases Him at any given time. Man should only be careful not to incur His wrath via actions and words.

*A.   REHOBOAM'S ERROR (12:1-24)*
_But he rejected the advice which the elders had given him, and consulted the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him_ (v. 8).
i.     vv. 1-11: God had privileged Rehoboam to reign over the united kingdom (11:43), but there is no sign that he recognised His as the Super Governor. One would think that he was going to consult God in the 3 day's he asked for (v. 3), like his grandfather, David, would have done, but he approached the elders and then the youths, insisted.
ii.    vv. 6-8: Yet, the loving God still counselled him through these elders. May such godly elders not be lacking in the administrations of our homes, churches, communities and nations, in Jesus' name. Amen. But did he follow God? (v. 8) He who despises godly elders counsel will have himself to blame (Prov. 29:11).
iii.   vv. 9ff: We see the Finger of God working underground to fulfil His sentence on Solomon, and promise to Jeroboam. May Scripture not be negatively fulfilled in our lives. Amen.
iv.   vv. 16-20: These ones were only acting the script written by God, the Administration of all situations. Are you in tune with Him?
v.    vv. 21-24: Look at how the Supervisor of human situations intervened, even uninvited, to quell unnecessary bloodshed. After all, He occasioned their division. Why should brothers be warring against themselves. When situations like this arise amidst us, we must see to know God's mind, lest we be fighting the wrong fights.
vi.   _God is the great Mastermind of all times. He decides who falls or rises, all for His pleasure and purpose. May we fulfil His purpose._ Amen.

*B.   JEROBOAM'S ENTHRONEMENT AND ERROR (12:1-33; 13:1-10)*
_And he said to Jeroboam, "Take for yourself ten for yourself ten pieces, for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon and will give ten tribes to you"_ (1 Kings 11:31).
i.     12:20: God had promised to hand part of the kingdom over to Jeroboam (11:26ff), and Rehoboam had misfired (12:1-19). The unfailing God (cf. Num. 23:19) moved the people to enthrone Jeroboam over what later became the northern kingdom (Samaria).
ii.    v. 20b: The all-knowing God preserved Judah for the house of David, according to His Word. They didn't know He had the Messiah in mind who must come as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Great God, the Administrator of the universe!
iii.   v. 25: God was giving Jeroboam establishment and expansion (v. 25). But did he think he was doing it of his own (cf. Zech. 4:6)? Foolishness!
iv.   vv. 26,27: For political reasons, Jeroboam thought of stopping God's people from going to worship Him. He erred in not consulting God for the way out. They same God who had deposited the kingdom (not merited) into his hands.
v.    vv. 28ff: He further erred in leading the people God put in his care into serious idolatry against God's Word (Exod. 20:2,3). Would God allow him go scot-free?
vi.   13:1-10: God sent him His verdict, and proved His supremacy as the unchangeable Governor of nations who enthrones and dethrones (cf. Psa. 5:4ff). Did he change? No, of course. God had to tell him a sad story of himself, bereave him of his beloved son (14:1-18), before himself died, obviously in sorrow (vv. 19,20).
vii.  _God sent His Word through His servant to Jeroboam, but he became arrogant about it, instead of regretting his actions, repenting and asking God for forgiveness (cf. Isa. 1:18-20; 2 Chro. 7:14). God would have forgiven him, had he repented, and not let calamity befall him and his household, but his heart had been hardened against God, just as in the case of Pharaoh_ (Exo. 14:4).

*LESSON DERIVED*
1.    Leaders should beware, lest they become instruments of fulfillment negative scriptures. And what you do to those before you will eventually be meted on you.
2.    Leaders who are misbehaving in any form, should know that they cannot escape the iron rod of God's justice, unless they repent.

*QUESTIONS*
1.     Why did God initiate the division of a kingdom He brought together by Himself?
2.    After the division of the kingdom, their different kings were still messing up instead of learning from Solomon's error. Discuss, drawing out lessons for church, family, traditional and political, leaders, etc., today.

Why do people abandon God.
People abandon  God  when they  are  enjoying, when  life  is sweet, when  things  are  going on smoothly, when people have  enough food to eat, but enough money to  spend. But immediately when  all these  things are no more  then they will  remember that God exist, we humans being usually  remember  God  when tribulations  arise , when we are  facing  some  problems in life.
That  why  you  will see some  millionaire  in the community in which  they  did not  even  believe  that there is God, because  they  have  enough  money, wealth, we have  get closer to  God  every  time  every  day of our life, if you  are rich or not  let still be closer  to God  because  God exists  he listened to our voice  when we call on him, he is the  only  one  to provide  for you  and me, the is the one  who  protect us from  all evil.
People abandon God  when things are growing  nicely they  would  have  forget that  all this thing  going on well is form God  almighty, In any position  we found  our self don't  abandon  God  for any reason I we pray he will answer  our prayers.

Re: Why do people abandon God by: Garey(m) .:. Sun, 30 Aug, 2020 - 05:52:37:pm GMT

Most often times, people who assumes or exhibits this mindset are usually individuals who have walked with God, seen signs and wonders even performed them, done lots of things for God but ultimately do not know God as it were. We can't use the word"abandoned" for individuals who does not know or wasn't nurtured in the way of the Lord. The first set of individuals first and foremost feels abandoned by God if even in the real sense, God does not a abandoned his own. This is just wiles of the devil that manipulates the heart of men and most often this. Occurs when some request are tabled before God and there seems to be no responses. The bible says when tempted it isn't God at work, this happens when you are drawn by your own lust. Jeremiah says"I know the thought that I have towards you says the Lord, thought of peace to give you a hope and a future, an expected end." One thing we must come to realise is that God is not bounded by time. Infinity, endless, everlasting, eternal are attributes that as it were so not even describe God but just close to what we can fathom and comprehend. Another scripture is proverbs 30:7-9, the writer made a heart felt request for God to just make him satisfied and that's all he wants. However, if some things don't Come as we have asked or requested, God is still God and his sovereignty cannot be questioned. We shouldn't give in the the schemes and wiles of the devil. His motive is to turn men from God, rather than confronting issues by prayer and faith, we tend to look up and ask Why me. God never abandoned his own. David said "since I was born and now I'm old I have never seen the righteous forsaken not his seed begging bread." Isn't that a confirmation? Say no to the devil, do not yield to him. I read a story of a man who was walking by the water side and saw just his foot print. So her cried out! God where are you ? Have you forsaken me? Jesus reaponded to him that the print you saw at the shore isn't yours, they are mine because I carried you when you became tired. God is God no matter what. Don't give up on God cos he won't give up on you.????????

Re: Why do people abandon God by: MichealThankGod(m) .:. Sun, 30 Aug, 2020 - 07:44:34:pm GMT

This is a very deep and very expression question. That makes many people outside the kingdom, buy into it, in one way or the other.

A lot of people have, look for one excuse or points, to abandon God, that is very funny and quiet interesting.

So people, who try and abandon God, believe or thought in the minds, they have done right thing, or taken the right step?

My question is, can a son know more it father?
Or can a product, know more than the one who produce it?

Because i don't seems, to get this anymore, as for me, if you ask me, I will say, those people, who claimed or choose to abandon God for one reason or the other, are ignorant of what they did.

Believe me, I can it and I will say it again and again, even an unbeliever, who does not know God, I mean who as not accept Christ, into his or life, remembered, know one can go to God accept through, Jesus Christ.

When such believer is dying, I mean the real death, if he or she is on the sick bed dying, he will never ask you for anything, tho, he might said they need more money for his medication, but what happen in the aspects if money is not the problems.

The doctor, and the nurses, who are in charge of his treatments would tell you, let just be praying to God.

Hmm and I laugh, and look at many people who now even open there mouth wide and said there is no God!

From me to those who said they have abandon God, I believe they have find a way or make a believe to there self that there is another thing, that is more superior than God, and which is a big lie.

Well I pray God himself would proof to them, that him God and that he his above all.

Re: Why do people abandon God by: ObakaEmmanuel(m) .:. Mon, 31 Aug, 2020 - 07:51:25:am GMT

@MichealThankGod: To me I see know reason why we should abandon God. But they are so many reason why many people in this generation abandon God. I will be discussing on some of the reasons.

1. Get rich quick: this have made so many people to abandon God and His ways. They want to make the money quick. One thing we should understand about this God is that, God is a God of speed. But God is not the God of rush. What God is doing, is miracle not magic. Every thing He does is holy. you are not working you are not doing any business and you want God to make you a millionaire that's maggic. You need to work so that He can bless the work of your hand. After beenfraustrated, they will now put all the blame on God for not blessing them early. The next possible move is to leave God and go for other way. Money has made many people to deviate from God. what made Judas Iscariot to betray Jesus. Is it not money? He sold Jesus just because of money. He want to be a well known disciple. He want to become the talk of the Town when it comes to money.

2. Lack of believe. After waiting on God for some period and did not see the miracle they have been expecting, They will stop believing in His word. I know of a pastor's wife that was barren for almost 10 years. In the month of November in the 10th year, she became pregnant. And today she has given birth to more than 3 children after 10 years of waiting. So imagine if she decided to go for other means. Imagine if she decided to abandon God and go for other god for help. That baby God gave to her would have just stopped there. If He says this He will do in your life. Just believe it don't don't doubt God.

Why should we even abandon God when He is our only hope. If we abandon Him and the enemies strike who are we going to run to for help . Who are going to run to when the whole world is against us. May I not get to the point where abandoning God will be my best option. Those who abandon God never end well why, because He is our defender. The devil can never give you anything for free. It's impossible. If the devil gives you 1 million naira, he will take back what is more than a million from you. He gave jusdas money and he took his life. The primary aim of  the devil is to separate you from the love of God and to take you to hell. If he gives you money, he will take your soul. With your soul, he can control you. But God will give you what you want and all He need from you is praise and Thanksgiving.

Why do people abandon God?

Why people abandon God is tied to a plethora of reasons with some not easily understood. I however come to understand the foundational reason why people abandon God is because of a lack of understanding of who he is, how he works and everything about him. The natural human mind cannot comprehend God and his nature. How he works is far beyond our mind's comprehension.
Humans naturally abandon what they don't understand. If I can't comprehend it, why should I waste my time being with it. When it comes to spirituality, the human mind's logic has to be lessened because the word explicitly said in Isaiah 55:8 "for my ways are not your your ways neither are your thoughts my thoughts". We can only yearn to understand the mind of God to develop a relationship with me thereby understand who He is and how he operates so that we won't abandon Him.
Head knowledge of God is not revelational knowledge. You need to really get to know God intentionally. Knowing God takes away that need for self sufficiency and waywardness and self fulfilment and independence from God. God won't like to be abandoned by you because as much as you need Him, He as well need you.

Why do people abandon God?.
Normally, reverse suppose to be the case.,it is only God that has the power, authority, and capable of abandoning the people(like he does to the people of Isrealites when they deprive from the ways of God), so also he can do to others who think they are the ones abandoning God. The Lord is cable of enthroning and dethroning kings.,he has ever has an alternate for replacement.
You abandoning God won't will never take anything from him, rather it destroys your life.
There are several foolish reasons which make people to abandon God;
*People do cry upon the Lord in times of their needs, lacks and wants.,but after which they are blessed, they don't have reasons to worship God anymore, so they abandon him.
*When man think he has enough wisdom to live his life, he abandon God.
*After which God has deliver man from all evil, they abandon God...,and so on.

There are so many reasons why people abandon God and the utmost reason is because they don't have a strong foundation. Foundation really matters in all facet of life because the quality of your foundation will determine how long you will live and also how relevant you will be when you are living.

The book of Matthew chapter 13 talks about the story of a sower and the seed. Looking at that scripture someone will be able to deduce at least 4 types of foundations and reading through we will get to understand that there are many things that can makes one forget about God and its because we are human being we carry the DNA of sins That's why the bible says by one man disobedience, sin entered the world and by one man obedience righteousness came.

The Lust of life can makes one forget his/her creator. This world is full of different pleasure that can make one comfortable and never have a thought of eternity. Lust is not when you are involved in fornication or adultery but you can also lust after money and also too much Fun that's enjoyment here and there can make you lose focus.

At times, poverty can also make someone lost hope and feel like abandoning God because everything will look so tight and the next thing a person who is facing such trials can easily conclude that God doesn't worthy serving whereas he/she has forgotten that all in life is Test and it's only by his grace we can sustain and pass through the test of time.

Finally, God is not a respecter of person and also don't feel like you're doing him a favour by serving him instead have it at the back of your mind that it's just a privilege because if you refuses to serve him, he will raise people that will serve him. Watch your foundation and make sure you build your foundation on eternal truths and not mere philosophies.

Recently, I heard someone complaining that she was tired of this phenomenon especially amongst youths and she doesn't even know how to present the matter to God anymore.

The truth is that many things are responsible for this, although, it shouldn't be an excuse.

The desire to make ends meet is causing  many to  drift away from God. The irony is that no one wants to have anything to do with a unsuccessful person for that matter. So almost everyone you come across now must have something to show for their struggles since money is also needed in churches too.

The love of material things has made the love of many towards God t o wax cold.

No one loves to serve God in penury, at least, not for long. People believe that there must be something to show for serving God.

Sadly enough, some who have made it in life are even reluctant to still serve the same God who in most cases, blessed them. What then is their excuse?

How people abandon God are in different ways  this is  been determined through individual  difference  beecuse what  you are facing can be different from what I  am facing.

Why do people abandon can be viewed in these categories such  as  some people abandon God simply because they already get rich things are going smoothly for them then they did not  remember God anymore, people like this when ever they have  problem then you will see them in church  programms you will see them praying.
There are some other categories of people who  abandon God because they did not have money  or get rich you  see this kind  of people will  believe that God did not answer there prayers along the line they  will get tired of praying and abandon God.
There are some people who abandon God due to their life style some people don't even  have  the believe that  God exists, people like this live a life without God, they don't care either God exists or not, there own is to live  there life how it's please them and have fun.

People abandon God because they think he abandon them. But the better true is that you can't abandon God cause he is God the creator of the universe, the creator of the heaven and earth, the creator of the sea, ocean, tree, land and everything inside the earth including you and every one else inside the earth.

That is why you can abandon him. You need him more then he needs you, without him you can't live this life.

We invite God into our through Prayers. The bible says Men are Ought to Pray and Never Give Up - that means God knows we might become weary and might want to faint but he's admonishing us to pray and Never Give up. Lean on his words and renew your heart daily with his words because renewing your hearts daily with his words brings liberation and answers all questions in your day to day activities.

Unanswered prayer is not a guarantee or a sound reason why you should neglect God. When your prayer looks as if it is not answered the next thing is not to abandon God the next solutions lies in you and the solution is when you are persistence about the prayer. When we checked through the bible we will realized that the bible admonishes us in Luke 18 vs 1 the bible said “Men are ought to pray and not to give up” that verses made me understands that there are days where we might want to faint but we shouldn’t because he has already made it known unto us. The reasons why we are always bothered about unanswered prayers is because we are not a student of the word. Be committed to the word of God and you will be forever liberated from the powers of the enemies.

Pride of life is also one of the things that do makes us abandon God. I know some people might want to say how does pride affects us and I will be glad to say pride affects us in so many ways in fact there are times where people doesn’t know they are proud. The moment you start seeing yourself as the doers of those things happening in your life is a pointer that you are proud. Some people abandon God since they realized that there is no point in serving God in as much as they are getting all what they want but am so sorry to shock you that a day will come where you will need a covering and a place to ran into in order to keep those things you’ve acquired but unfortunately there’s no place. That day you will understands the Mightiness of God.

Wealth can also make us abandon God. Wealth can make us abandon God in the sense that when you are blessed with riches you might become overwhelmed that can make you forget that it is God that makes rich and add no sorrow. Normally wealth brings pride but then that’s why you need to ask God to bring upon you the spirit of humility because without humility don’t be surprised that you will eventually abandon God because of Wealth. So therefore watch out.

Finally, nothing should have the power to separate you from God because even if things doesn’t look the way you expected it to look that does not have to drive you away from God instead focus more on his Eternal promises for us. Always remember that you are on earth for some time and the earth will pass away it will just be you and God. So therefore think wisely before you make the conclusions of abandoning God.
