Engineering » What makes a building to collapse, is it from the foundation ,the soil or the Engineer's fault? by: RobertGrant(m) .:. Sat, 11 Feb, 2023 - 06:18:50:pm GMT
I always ask myself this question what is responsible for the collapse of a building, because most people say the problem is from the foundation while some say its comes from the soil while others say it's the fault of the Engineer.
So I really want to know what is really responsible for the collapse of a building?

A building could collapse for two main reasons.

One, if the foundation is not strong enough to hold the structure of the building you want to put up .

You are not meant to use the foundation of a one storey building to construct a seven storey building except that foundation has been solidly built for that

Two, the sub- standard building materials is a cause of collapse. Why waste money on getting low quality building materials when you want to construct a building that is meant to last for a long time ?
