Sometime in January, 2023 ,Nigerians woke up to the news of the first woman being ordained as the Bishop of Methodist Church,Rt Rev. Nkechi Nwosu in Jos, Plateau state.

In the bible days, women played little or no roles in ministerial work because they were regarded as the weaker vessels.

Men took charge of basically everything from being the providers of the home to church work.

Of course there were women who showed kindness and wisdom in certain affairs that concerned the nation .

Deborah the Judge readily comes to mind as her wisdom and counsel led to the victory of Israel in a war against their enemies.

Some women were noted for their kindness and good hearts like Abigail, Dorcas and Priscilla.

In the new testament, women had no right to ask questions in the church if they didn't understand anything.
They were advised to go ask their husbands at home.

They had no right to take decisions in public not even if it concerned the church.

What a different world and system of thing then !

Fast forward to this time, the narrative has changed tremendously.
A lot of reactions trailed the ordination of Rev. Nkechi Nwosu steming from the fact that people felt it was a huge office to be managed by a woman.

Yet, there were certain qualities that made them ordain her apart from the fact that they must have been divinely led.

In reality, I have observed that many men do not find it easy being led by a woman pastor.

I'm sure many reasons could be responsible for this because no matter how big a church is or the volume of miracles performed there by a woman , in most cases it'll take the presence of a man to hold the entire population of a church .

It is a thing of constant controversy when we talk about men yielding to a woman leader in the church.

Is it that these women do better than the men in ministry?

Why do most men find it hard to be led by a woman pastor, especially in Africa?

Why do most men find it hard to be under the leadership of a female pastor, hmm wow it is a very interesting question.
First of all, men are not naturally subjected to a woman except their mom or a woman who they respect so much. It is a general ideology that women ought to be in subjection to the men not the other way round.
When a man is subjected to a woman, most women generally, looks down him and never show him that the respect that he is a man. Also the traditions and customs of our society doesn't favor men to be under a woman because the position of leadership usually belongs to a man.

Even in Christianity, men are ought to be leaders. So having a female pastor contradict many doctrines. And that's why most women are not allow to be pastors in most churches.
Gender inequality that has been in existence for thousands of years can't just be easily addressed.
