I don't know how i pick up this attitude, but traveling is fun for me, in fact i consider it as one of my hobby. Though i was born and raised in Lagos, but I've traveled and visited about 12 states in Nigeria and i've journeyed through over 20 or more states. I did my primary school education in Lagos but had my secondary school education at Police Secodary School Calabar. Calabar was the first place that i visited outside Lagos, since i became a conscious teenager. It was a great experience for me, traveling for 12 hours with the popular the Young Shall Grow Motor, with my dad sitting right beside me. It was a night journey, so i could not see most of the places we passed through until we got to Benin where our bus stopped for us to have some refreshment. That was the first time for me to see a very busy area that was clustered with people at the wee hour of the day. I heard some of the passengers saying that the woman who was selling food, only sells at night and she is making cool cash. I am sure that people that do not know her well we call her lazy when they see her sleeping during the day.

The second place i saw is the prestigious Onitsha bridge, my dad woke me up to see the length of the bridge and he told me that it connected Anambra state to Delta state. He also explained the significance of the Onitsha bridge during the Nigeria civil war. It was fun for me as i watched in awe while i listened to my dad. On getting to Anambra, theives were on the highway robbing and shooting sporadically, our Driver refused to stop as he drove off with great speed. My father who was still a police officer as at that time, told me to lie down flat, so that i will not be hit by stray bullet. The journey became tensed as we all gave thanks to God for rescuing us from such a terrible experience. On getting to Calabar, we stayed at the park until dawn before we went to my school. After sorting out all that was necessary, my dad left and i was alone in the school with my elder brother and other students. It was a boarding school and that school helped me to make friends from all over Nigeria and learn some things about their culture.

I can also remember when i traveled to Jos, a place in the northern part of Nigeria. The weather there is just like that of the westerners, very cool and there are lots of mountains. The people are heavily involved in agriculture and produce goods like carrots, irish potatoes, tomatoes and pepper, cabbage etc. I love the town because of its weather and the fact that the people are very hospitable.

I have also visited Nasarawa where i served during my NYSC days. Prior to my visit to Nasarawa, i normally refer to everyone in the north as Hausa, but during my stay there, i realized that Hausa was just a common Lingua franca in the area, many of the people there are from other tribes that many people in Nigeria do not know of. I was posted to a local government called Mararaba-Udege that is inhabited by the AFo people. I know many Nigerians have not heard of that tribe before. Do you know that the Afo people have their own traditional way of writing and it looks like the Egyptian Coptic writing.

I have traveled to some many places in Nigeria and i have learnt a lot about them. This has helped me a lot to appreciate and respect the culture of others. It has helped me to debunked all those stereotypical views and beliefs about some of them. I wish more Nigerians can travel round to learn more about the different people in Nigeria.

Indeed travelling gives you experience and exposure.

Our schools system in Nigeria is too poor that if we are to check most schools,they only focus on the theory aspects of all they teach even some schools that call themselves technical schools who is supposed to be more of practicals are lacking,they end up being more of theory just carrying big names about.

To supplement this deficiency in the school,a student can only be brought up properly by engaging in lots of meaniful travels around the world.

They need to travel around the world,exploring to gain experience not from anymore but by themselves and like the saying goes"experience is the best teacher",going through something yourself is the best feeling of knowing something ever and also experiencing things by yourself has a way of staying longer in your brain!.

Apart from the fact that experience helps one to know more about the practicals of things.

Experience also has a way of relaxing our mind.

When we leave our comfort zone,away from the troubles of our familiarized environment.let say you decide to take a break to an unknown place,it has a way of relaxing you and not only that.it has a way of making you to be able to have a good reflection of your life giving room for you to know where you need to make amendments. When this travel is made for only you,it is very good for reflecting because you will be by yourself,no distraction, no one trying to tell you what to think or do.

Exposing yourself to travels around also help in improving your way life.you get to see the different ways people do things and then you make the best choice about how you wang to do your things,it could be cooking,kinds of foods that are beneficial, dress sense..etc

Travelling has lots of benefits than this so try to make an habit of traveling around the world.Even if you are an indoor person, try it some few times and you will realized the benefits are more than words can describe.

I concur with you dear brother. Traveling itself is a SCHOOL - a situation where you learn automatically without being told. It is a unique and different experience entirely and I really love it - going place and seeing new things. One thing have noticed over the years is that most erudite scholars, gnostics, leaders, CEOs, executives with high sense of reasoning and knowledge-base travel a lot. It helps broaden ones perspective about the universe no matter which ever circle one is on earth.

You might think travelling is fun. But I don't enjoy traveling most especially the long distance travelling. I feel very uncomfortable and sick when I travel on a long distance..

Travel gives someone experience and exposure yes I greed it give experience because you will see many things
Travel gives you experience when you enjoy your trip ,it is not that easy to travel because traveling involved risk .

When you enjoy traveling you called it exposure traveling you see what you haven't before you will beable to know many state ,many language,you will see different types of cultures.

Well I'm not a fan of traveling for a long period of time because staying in buses

for hours makes me sick and feel like throwing up.

But one of the places I enjoyed when I traveled was portharcourt.

I kindof enjoyed every bit of my stay there and it was fun for me....

Well I don't like the idea of traveling long distances, but I've been to places Kwara state, Enugu Rivers state etc...

I prefer international travel to Europe, United States or Canada, I prefer to travel out, honestly.

@Vickybrown:yes that is true , travel did not give any good experience this day because there is a lot of risk in traveling self.
It give experience in the olden days, not these present time.
