Nigeria bad roads is a topic that even a child will have something to say about cause it has been in a bad state for years and promises have been made again and again about the repair but we can see that nothing is happening.
The government are obviously doing nothing on the roads yet every politician that wants to come into government always promises to repair the roads.
The bads roads are the sources of accidents all over the country, traffic jams, and vehicle spoilage.
It is obvious that the next government will promise to repair it but let's all hope it won't be just false promises

This topic is really a good one to discuss, Nigerian leaders as a nation over the years has been in the battle of putting in place infrastructure which is their ultimate and primary assignment for been placed in seat of power.

One of the signs that shows a country is developing is for them to have a solidly constructed roads that will accessible for all road users, the condition of our roads is so terrible to the extent that even the so called urban areas no longer have good roads, and this has led to different fatal accidents that has claimed innocent life.
Road accidents has increasingly become so alarming in Nigeria, and it's so more painful because nothing seems to be done about it, and the masses are bearing the consequences.
The state of our roads is as a result of the government negligence over the years, even when a road is constructed, it is expected to last for years but this is not the case, most roads constructed barely live up to the standard, it gets bad in a short period of time. The sad thing is how innocent lifes are been claimed on daily basis.
Aside from casualties caused by our roads, it has also make life so unbearable for citizens, causing set backs to businesses, likewise it has fueled robbery attacks on travel vehicles. Until government stands to their responsibilities to building well constructed roads and fixing the bad ones properly the way it should be, citizens will be the ones to bare the consequences. There is a need for the government to see it's important that both the rural and urban areas should have good roads because this is what brings development to the nation.

The state of Nigerian road is nothing to write home about and if someone is to focus on discussing this topic it will get to a stage that he will even start crying because of how bad Nigerian roads are, even a newborn baby knows that Nigerian Roads are bad.

If someone decides to start discussing about the various roles we have in Nigeria the ones in Lagos, in ibadan in abuja or wherever you are in Nigeria you discover that there is a particular Road that whenever you pass there, you are like do we have a government at all.
One thing I have also noticed in Nigeria is that instead of our government, the politicians, the Senate, the representative of the House of assembly to focus on the bad roads in Nigeria they prefer focusing on things that are irrelevant and things that are not necessary at that very moment but the very things we need  will never be talked about.
Although not all the bad Road in Nigeria are due for repair some of the major cause of the bad road is due to accident ,the trucks; tankers or trailers and sometimes the way people themselves use those road or whatever is the cause of this bad Road should be kept aside for some time and our government should focus on repairing the road because a country without a good road for me I don't think is a country.
Another  thing  is that we all can work at improving our roads so it is better and it is advisable that we watch the way we use the road if possible even minimise our road use and use another source of transportation because the number of cars that use the road everyday is enormous.

Simple and straight forward   most of the states in Nigeria  roads are nothing to write about, it is true that some leaders did not fulfill their own part in the oath they made , while some were able to do just little, our leaders should not take the affairs of this great nation as a child's play and take this Nation seriously, and do something about this road issue .

The state of Nigerian roads are just too worrisome and unbelievable because you would agree with me that the roads are out of what they should be. They are simply eyesore completely and someone would ask if there is any form of government in place or any one in charge of the roads.

These are the roads that have been there for many years now and the politicians keep coming in year in and year out using the same roads as means to campaign every time they need the votes of people to be elected into the selfish office they operate like it's their generational rights only.

I only hope that both educated and the illiterates would open up their eyes and shine it so brightly to vote out the same cargoes and set of people that have been leading us for years without positive impart in the economy as a whole.

The most worrisome part of the state of the roads is that the roads are death traps for commuters and travellers that goes through these roads from one state to the other and these people ply the roads daily facing all these dangers.

These politicians are also there seeing these roads and they feel so comfortable to drive past and still neglect them. You would agree with me that these roads when they finally wants to carry out road construction and rehabilitation they use the means to syphon money.

They give the contract out to the contractor that dances to their music so that they can make enough money through this means. The contractors in return then makes use of inferior materials so that they too can make their money and the road keeps being bad year in and out.

Nigerian roads is nothing to write home about, they are so terrible that result in a lot of traffic almost every time.

Our politicians now use these roads as a means of making funds for themselves.
One of the major causes of accidents in Nigeria is due to the bad roads.
Take for instance, Ibadan express road, that road has been under for more than 10 years and up till now it has not been completed.
I still don't understand why it is taking them 10 years to complete the construction of that major to up till now.
Every single year millions of naira is still budgeted on the construction of that road. That is to tell you the level of corruption in Nigeria.
I just hope that one day things would get better in this country.

Construction and Reformation or roads has always being part of the government budget, but has never been fulfilled. Why?. Corruption!
The money they will embellzle has always being their priority.  They fail to understand that citizens safety also depends on the nature of roads.
If not for some rich men in the community that stood up and decided to challenge the government by  Reforming some bad roads in the street, no one knows what can happen at the result.
And even when they make attempt to do it, they will move out to where they can easily notice them, so people can say that they are really trying., While the main work is left undone.
The Government are not ready to provide infrastructure to the citizens if there is not enough pressure on them.
It is only the cry of the people that can make them to respond a little.,which is very bad.

Re: The state of Nigerian roads by: Flat(m) .:. Wed, 23 Dec, 2020 - 04:27:29:pm GMT

The major channel of transportation which is road is one of the major issues we are facing in this country. The roads in our country Nigeria are truly in their bad state and that is causing a lot of havoc on the citizens. And part of the thing that is causing issues for us is the fact that the government are not doing the roads for long term purpose; most of the roads are being done just to last for the years they will use in office and that is why the roads get back to their state of deformity immediately they leave office. Sincerely speaking, if we really want our roads to be good, if we really want them to be in a state that we be accommodating for all, then our politicians have to learn about continuity in government because this is the major issue we are facing in this country. Each politicians that come into power tends to have their own personal agenda or let me say they have their own party agenda and thereby they tends to stop what the previous government have done and start their government with their own plan. And when they are doing their campaign, they will quickly patch the road just to use that to entice people into voting for them.
But part of what I won’t personally agree with is the issue that the major cause of accident is as a result of the bad roads. The fact that there are potholes and gallops on the road means that  people should drive at low speed but the reverse is the case, a lot of us drive at the highest speed of the car and yet we come to complain. At what speed are we then going to drive when the roads are already in their expected position. So, on this case, we understand that the roads are bad but it is on our part to also drive in line with the road we have.

The state of Nigerian roads is among one of the basic problems Nigeria is suffering from for a very long time now and only few out of the many roads in Nigeria are manageable but the rest are filled with pot holes.

When you look at developed countries sometimes and even try to observe the kind of problems that they are currently facing as a country, you'll tend to realize that they are no long suffering from mumu problems like Nigeria. When I say mumu problems, I mean our basi amenities like light, pipe borne water supply, good roads and agriculture. When I decided to speak to some people abroad in different countries in Europe, I got to realize that they enjoy 24hrs electricity over there, they don't even experience power surge over there unlike Nigeria where power surge will burn someone's television and charger more than twice in a year. In summary I just realized that their problems are way beyond basic amenities but are more advanced. But here in Nigeria, were are still suffering from this basic problems and the worst part is that they are our major problems.

Bad roads has done a lot of harm to cars and the People driving on them. We hear of different kinds of accident that occur on roads on daily basis. This same bad roads causes traffic jam as a result of big pot holes in some of the roads. Our government keeps on giving us false promises that these roads will be fixed but when they eventually get into power, it becomes a completely different story instead looting and embezzlement of the country's finances will be the order of the day. Even some of the roads that they manage to fix, they don't do them properly because after a maximum of 3 months you'll start finding pot holes on those roads again. Nigeria is a scam and a lot needs to be changed in this country starting from the people in power.

I can see different reactions here, some are spiteful about the whole situation and are ready to devour those responsible, while some are hopeful that a new change will come sooner or later, some are doing what they know how to best, praying that everything will be all right.
Truthfully it is really worrisome, to see the state that this country has been over years and the state that we are presently is no different. We can go on mentioning basic problems that we are still facing in this goddamn country, the writer has only singled out bad road as a topic to discuss.
I haven't been to all the roads across the country but I have travelled down some major roads in some big states and I can attest to back up the fact that everyone here has been making that our roads in this country are very very poor compared to standard we happen to put ourself. No government at the brim of wanting to get into power will not do without making promises to amend and rebuild the bad roads, it is super story he moment they are in power. It has now become a traditional thing for them to make promises and not fulfil them, what is more painful is that theses things are what they are suppose to do even without promising to do them. You can imagine a representative of the people in the house of assembly building a massive hotel in his locality without a proper road leading to it.
It is just so so sad that we are still facing these kinds of problems as a rich as we are, the only place I think the government in charge take the issue of road as important as any other thing is Lagos. Although before it became bad enough to gradually turning good, it was worse, but relentless effort is being made continuously to see that the major roads and minor ones are in a better shape if not the best. Still there are quite number of roads that are not motorable at all but I can say authoritatively that it is not as a result of negligence and I credit the Lagos state Administration for that. Anywhere else is a disaster, sometimes when I travel I become so weak that I won't be able to do anything because of the stress I go through in the bus/car. The driver has to dodge as many potholes as he could but will still get into one or two while doing that, before you know it, there has been an accident on the road, so many problems cause by the bad state of the roads..
We can't say enough, I can only join the group of the prayer warriors and hopers to pray and hope for a better Nigeria.

God bless Nigeria.

The state of Nigerian roads is nothing to write home about from time immemorial because of dubious acts from the people that are meant to build more roads and maintain them.

In the first place, it is a problem for the government to disburse funds to create new roads and when they finally do, the people in charge will start to look for dubious means to siphon the funds into their personal accounts leaving the road in its bad condition. Some only try and do one or two things during election period or when the government intends to visit the road and when they do, they use poor materials with less quality because of their cheap prices so that they can siphon funds.

Another reason while Nigerian roads is in a very bad state is as a result of the poor maintenance culture that the government have in this country. The maintenance culture is son poor that it is only when numerous accidents must have been recorded that they will now decide to go and maintain the roads.

The government is supposed to have a team in charge of monitoring the condition of our roads in this country so that the ones that are in a bad state will be maintained but all they are after is to embezzle funds .

The state of Nigerian roads is very poor, inadequate facilities and low quality equipments are used. The materials used by road constructors are of a more cheaper price. Pot holes are the main characteristics of our roads . These  often are the main cause of accidents on our roads.

Most of the devastated causes in Nigeria is not even the government but the people, for example, the road construction companies, the civil engineers in Nigeria are so corrupt and lazy that after getting the contract from the government, they refuse to put the money they have been given to good use, after getting the money, they will now purchase the cheapest materials to use .

Money and resources are being lavished by the government and road constructors and government on things that not of important use at the moment to the citizens of the nation. Poor equipments whose efficiency and effectiveness is not good enough to make a long lasting roads are used in the construction of our roads,as a result more lives are being lost in the process and so many injuries have been caused .

What is the way out, the government should always keep in heart the interest of its citizens and not their own selfish  desires. The government should give the contract to a well trusted and honest company, and the government should be honest with its citizens and not choose based on connection .

I really don't know about the state of the road in every State in Nigeria, but about ogun state that I currently reside in, and iffo local government to be precised,  I can vividly tell about the condition of the roads in that area.

it is quiet shameful for government not to make a move to repair this roads that have been bad for about 7 years ago and keep on going was because of their lack of concern.

the agbado road at iffo local government had become worse since  2011 but goes from bad to worse because of the lack of concern of the government. The road become torture for it  user during the raining season the road damages the vehicle of the transport workers in this kind of season and they have been facing the same problems for years.

the ijoko road user also faces the same problem and no help from government is seen. Also the Lambe road and agbado to  ishaga and many more.

The assistance of the government is really is really needed in these afore mentioned roads as it has witnessed two different administrations with none of them trying to do anything to improve these roads.

Sincerely speaking, I can’t blame the government and the reason is because they don’t share out of the problem we are sharing. Imagine there is pot holes on the way to the governor’s office or on the way to the governor’s house, they would have thought of doing something good; imagine we do not give them chance to use any other means of transportation except road during their interstate campaigns, they would have a knowledge of what the citizens are passing through; imagine we do not allow them to leave the residence they were before they campaigned for that position, they would have been pushed to turns things around but just because they begin to have comfort immediately they get into office, they had definitely forgotten everything thy promised or they have once be a victim of. Of a truth, those that have personal cars or those that have vehicles they use for transportation we truly understand what am saying, the stress of driving on a road full of pot holes and gallops is more than that of just driving in a traffic jam on a good road.
It is high time we begin to understand in this country that we are the one that we be taking up those responsibility now, have come to realize that the government is not ready to assist a society or community that is not doing something on their own part. So, it is left to us to see it as a duty to make the change if the government is not permitting themselves to be used for the change. For instance now, in my vicinity, the landlord's and landlady’s took it upon themselves to do the roads, although it is a new site and we expecting the government to come and do the roads for us will be like waiting for snow to fall in Nigeria.

The state of Nigeria roads is nothing to write home about.

If you go to apapa and also ijora area of Lagos state, their roads are so terrible coupled with loads of trailer parked on the road.
One of the major causes of accident in Nigeria is as a result of bad roads.
The worst part is that the government keeps budgeting projects for all theses roads every year but they eventually do not repair these roads.
All the governments do is to embezzle money for these roads.
The worst part is that no one questions their action in any way.
As I'm talking to you now there is a heavy traffick at mushin road leading to Oshodi.
The major reason behind the traffick is as a result of a trailer that fell on the road side due to the bad toad at mushin.
I just hope that things get better in this country.

Transportation is the movement of people from one geographical place to another . people have lost their life because of the condition of nigeria road which is not good.
Nigeria is a country without leader ,our leader see the road which are not good but since it was aeroplane they are using for their own transportation.

Out of thirty six state in Nigeria no state can come out and boost that their road are good.
Therefore our movement is at risk bad road lead to accident ,and we claim that we have representative at the government arms.

No state in Nigeria that you will go to o and found good road and we have the minister for transportation .

There is a particular road along lokoja which is very bad , if the road are good transportation will be made easier for people .
