The summary of first and second political evolution of the kanuri empire which I make research on are as follows

1. 3000 BC- 9th cent. AD:- the emergency of the kanuri as a distinct people

2. 9th cent. A.D - 12th cent. AD:- the emergence of the kanuri empire

3. 11th cent. AD - 12th cent. AD:- the adoption of Islam and the islamisation of the state.

4. 13th cent.AD-14th cent.AD:- the apogee of the empire.

5. 14th cent.AD- the time of trouble and disintegration.

The second kanuri empire

The flight from kanem to different parts west of lake Chad by umar-ibn Idris did not by any means end the problem facing the saifawa dynasty.
The very existence of the state remained uncertain until about the eighth decade of the 15th century. This was so for a number of related reasons.

According to my findings, In the first place, the Bulala wars continued long after the saifawa had left kanem. The was started dying down from the period of the reign of Usman Idris who came to the saifawa throne at the end of the 14th century.

Secondly, it proved rather difficult for the new state to have a regular existence in the new place. There is, however, little exact information either on extent of the new kingdom or on it's seats of government.

Thirdly, new dangers came to face the saifawa west of lake Chad. Among the new development was the infiltration into the areas of the new empire by the nomad-Arabs who came from Egypt. these Arabs made life insecure for the kanuri in their new area.

They were reported to have killed or enslaved kanuri refugees fleeing from Bulala wars.
