The importance of the heart has not only been emphasized scientifically but also scripturally. It is as we all know, the most important organ in every living creature. It determines the existence or death of a creature.
Multiple times, in both the old and new testament, a close attention was given to the heart. This is because the heart is the seat of life (Prov 4:23). It is made up of our mind, our will and emotions.
The heart is God's major focus in man (Prov 24:12). Nothing is as important as what goes on in your heart. God sees the heart, He hears the heart. The words you say the things you do are not as important as the state of your heart. The heart has a voice! It speaks.
Prov 4:23 " Keep thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life".
God bless you.

The heart is what God looks at,how pure and clean is your heart? What do you think of when no one is around, what comes to mind when you meet people. It is not about your status or physical appearance. Some people believe that what they do is the right thing not knowing what God is after is the heart that did it. That is why your pastor would say if your mind doesn't go with the money you want to give the church don't give because giving without a clean heart is useless.

In the book of proverbs 16:2 the Bible says that all the ways of man are clean in his own sight but the Lord weighs the motive. No matter how much help you render to people if your heart is not right there won't be any reward. Some people do things to brag about them, some people give out things to prove that they are higher than others, pls take note of the Bible verse above God is after the motive.
Another bible verse that talks about the heart God's focus is the book of Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 17:10 which says I the Lord search the heart, I test the mind, even to give to each man according to his ways according to the result of his deeds.

Our Heart really matters to God because that's avenue through which God communicate to us. We need to guide our hearts with all diligence. We are to watch what will take in to our heart.

The Bible uses the term heart to describe the bundle of desires,
hopes, interests, ambitions, dreams, and affections you have.
Your heart represents the source of all your motivations. That is, what you love to do and what you care about most.

Even today we still use the word in this way when we say, "I love you with all my heart."
The Bible says, "As a face is reflected in water, so the heart
reflects the person." Your heart reveals the real you-what you truly are, not what others think you are or what circumstances force you to be. Your heart determines why you say the thing you do, why you feel the way you do, and why you act the way you do.

Physically, each of us has a unique heartbeat. Just as we each
have unique thumbprints, eye prints, and voice prints, our hearts
beat in slightly different patterns. It's amazing that out of all the
billions of people who have ever lived, no one has had a heartbeat
exactly like yours.
In the same way, God has given each of us a unique emotional
"heartbeat" that races when we think about the subjects,
activities, or circumstances that interest us. We instinctively care about some things and not about others.

In conclusion, our heart is connect to God. In order to save ourselves from been encompass with the thoughts of the devil. We are meant to study and eat the word of God daily.

God's focus is on the heart

God always searches our hearts - the factory of all our actions. He seems why we do what we do, he judges that and not just when we do - our behavior.

God is concerned about your inner life - the source of your physical, spiritual and mental life. Your heart is the source of your life.
1 Samuel 16:7 - But GOD told Samuel, "Looks aren't everything. Don't be impressed with his looks and stature. I've already eliminated him. GOD judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face GOD looks into the heart."

Good judges your heart not how you look or the things people look at that's why He was specific when He said we should guard our heart - from the evil thoughts that turn into deed when entertained. It is our thoughts that become our actions, as long as it (wrong acts) is conceived and entertained, it is considered a sin.
Let us take a close look at the following scriptures

- Matthew 12:34 - O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Another version puts it as "... when you are so foul-minded? It's your heart, not the dictionary, that gives meaning to your words."

- Proverbs 4.23 - Keep vigilant watch over your heart that's where life starts.

The heart should be God's dwelling place. It is in man's initial nature to harbor mischief and since against God, but after accepting him into your life, you are expected to let him take charge of your thoughts because, only Him can configure your heart to His will. He does the purging - emptying of your heart, then filling it up with Himself.
