POLITICS Peter Obi or Defeat - Ozigbo Atiku, Tinubu Posted on January 25, 2023 Wale Odunsi
The Labor Party, LP, has called on Chief Valentine Ozigbo Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar to resign for Peter Obi.
Ozigbo said they are ready to accept defeat for the presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party.
The PDP candidate for the 2021 Anambra governorship election in a statement on Sunday evening denied the allegation of an "Abuja meeting" with the Atiku camp.
Ozigbo said the opponents were trying to "undermine the tremendous power of Taat in Nigeria and around the world".
He accused them of spreading rumors and engaging in covert tactics instead of focusing on a "fair and open contest of ideas."
Ozigbo called the "act of incompetence" a sign of fear of fair competition and lack of confidence in the abilities of its candidates.
The politician reiterated the LP leader's desire to see the former Anambra governor's vision for Nigeria realized.
Obi said he has "strong leadership and a clear plan" to tackle the critical challenges facing Nigeria.
Ozigbo said the LP would not get involved in matters related to the campaigns of Atiku or Tinubu, but would allow the "current spat between corruption allegations and counter-allegations" to continue.
Culturally, the wisest thing for Atiku and Tinubu to do is to let Peter Obi go unchallenged with an honorable resignation.
"But if they want to continue, they must be ready to accept their fate in the elections," Ozigbo said.
The Presidential and National Assembly elections will be held on February 25, Saturday.
