Politics » IF NIGERIA DIVIDES, WHICH REGION WOULD BENEFIT MORE? by: Ogiejoe(m) .:. Sat, 24 Jul, 2021 - 05:35:44:pm GMT
Nigeria, a State amalgamated by British Lord Lugard joining the Southern and the Northern part of Niger Area divided by the River Niger and making one and they named it Nigeria.

Presently, the Nation has been having a lot of disunity as the Southern region has been Marginalized by the Northern part of the country which led to the sight by the South Easthern part fighting for freedom in attempt to create their own nation called Biafra. Of recent the South West has started agitating for their own Oduduwa nation.

Knowing that there is possibility of fragmentation, which region would benefit the most? South West may not have notable resources but they are well organized, South South are well known for their oil in abundance, South East have some oil but are very good with businesses and tech, and the North have agriculture.

So, which part would actually work well and prosper if separated.

This is war ,I mean a big war this is not the matter of who will benefit or not this is what will lead to problems and lost of lives.
If Nigeria will have to be divided it has to undergo some certain process and the process am talking about is lost of life ,people who have home before becoming someone without home again, killing of innocent people.
The best thing is to come together in peace and unity and make Nigeria great .
The issue of division is not going to slove any problem.

@abbey:

I disagree with you that Nigeria will unite and be great again. The division and preference is already there in top offices are the Northerners, in Military 75% are Northerners. politically, North dominate and even now that there is division, they are not willing to go down a bit.
The only solution is division. We were never one and never are we going to be

From my own point of view, the yorubas would benefit from it
This is based on the fact that they tend to embrace development in any form.
They also love to be involved in one or two trade might be a skill tho.

The Igbos would also benefit from the split up this is based on the fact that they are business inclined.
They want to maximize every single opportunity they get.
But I don't think the Hausas would benefit from the split up in any way because they are far behind.

The northerners would never allow this division to take place because they know they would be greatly affected by the division.

In the north, they practice a closed system of social stratification where the richer gets richer and the poor gets poorer with no chance to getting rich or even moving out of the hierarchy of poverty.
The rich send their children to school to be educated and when they graduate, they are given well paid jobs.

As for the poor ones in the north, instead of givin them education, they give the religion, they also feed them inorder to make submissive to them.
They made them believe that education is not right for them and they should fight against it. That is why we have the likes of the jihad group and the Boko harams.
If division takes place in Nigeria, it's going to be very hard for the leaders in the north to change the mindset of these set of people, rather they would start to give their children the right orientation and wait for the screwed generation to be completely gone.

@abbey: You're right about that because there would be a lot of blood shed before division would take place.

The truth is that if Nigeria should separate today it won't be easy that much for any region as it is going to take a whole lot of preparation and gradual plan on the leadership and everything that entails to make up the new nation that has been created.
Creating a nation is not a jovial thing as it involves a lot of things and people needs to totally trust the new leadership that will emerge.
Now let's come back to the topic and sense that which region would benefit more today I think the region that will be that will benefit more would eventually be the Southerners generally this is because Northerners does not have what it takes to be on their own compared to the Southerners and is a reason the Northerners do not want this to happen.
They don't want each region to go on his own and that is why the wicked man that is heading the country now it's trying every possible best to industrialize the Northern part of the nation and to take her resources there.
I can't imagine the bill that was passed recently on petroleum.
They stood against the state where the oil is produced, they reduced their profits the amount they gave them them to 3% and rather they increase their own in the North and they said they own more right to it because they have the larger land mass in Nigeria all these are very annoying and I wonder what the senators that represent us in the upper chamber do there by going there.
I don't know when all these abnormallies will be corrected in the nearest future and we do not have to go over this again the truth is restructuring will be the way out of all this mess so that everything can be as it should be everyone should do is handle what is capable of doing another what can be brought to the federal solar everything goes ahead to be further and indicate for each state where the main resources comes from. Thank you as this is my take on this.

@Samuel23:. I don't think we can be divided in Nigeria.
This is based on the fact that the regions are not United.
Take for instance the Igbos that are clamouring for Biafra.
They are not United in any way and yet they keep clamouring for delegation.
It's so hard for Igbos to get married to themselves in some tribes.

Yet they want to be separated from Nigeria.
United we stand, divided we fall. Division is not what Nigeria needs for now...

@ojc(E):

It is very possible for Nigeria to break up. Just look at what is happening right now in National Assembly as there is so much division within them as they are no longer of one mind. I just read from News that some members are already asking for a breakup as the North seems to want to dominate everything and wants their opinion to be the first to be considered.
The North has taking too far from others and i don't think the trust can ever be amended even as Buhari is taking Nigeria to a doom.

@ogiejoe: I don't think the splitting of Nigeria can be done easily if possible.
I don't think the northerners would agree to it because they would be more on the losing side if Nigeria should split.
I just hope that things get better and better and not worse as the situation of the country is right now.

This will concern every individual in the country did you just say division just like that , wait did you think it is so easily .
That division means a lot it means thousands of things something must happen before division can take place don't you know.

If the solution to the country is division then everyone should get ready to face anything that comes across them.

You see we look at things and conclude did you consider the branches behind it ,the word division will surely distroy thousand of things, destroy thousands of life then that neans we are not save.
But till then .

Division will cause another problem I dont believe in that division ,either which part will benefit or not this is a big crisis coming ahead .

So the yorubas should be on their part, the hausas should also be and the igbo , you see Nigeria is a large country with many ethics groups did you think is that so easily to divide.
Let think about it very well , this division matter will bring about crisis and big problems.
What we should do now is to look for way forward to make nigeria great .

Talking about the division if it eventually occur it will affect each side in one way or the other .
It will affect each an every one of us dont you think so , this is part of what our senators should be corncern about but they refuse to work towards that all what they know is money .

Nigeria heros has done a great work to make this country stand but now they wont to distroy every thing .

I dont think there will be any benefit there if we divided, in fact people life will be wasted long the line .

@Iyanu: well said dear lots of lives will be lost.

I don't think the northerners would even allow that to happen because of what they stand to lose when they divide.

The idea of splitting Nigeria brought about the first civil war in Nigeria.

So if you're still very contemplating about the idea of Nigeria splitting.

Just know that it would come with a second civil war which is what none of us would like to experience.

We all know how the war would start but what we don't know is how the war would end.

Even up till now we are still suffering from the casualties of the first civil war talk more of you starting another one.

If we should continue to talk about dividing in Nigeria there are lot attached to it don't let us look at it as something small if it started we won't be able to slove it , if you will see to my opinion both the northern, Eastern and south depends on one another and this bring Nigeria to stand as a nation.

Dividing is not going to slove anything in the country the solution is that we should allowe peace to rain love ourselves , put an end to criminal activity ,put an end to injustices.

This country has already been lead by someone before and things are going normal as expected so why the sudden change occurs in our own generation , that means there are some people behind it let us be truthful to our nation all of us are supposed to be one nation not in layers.
