When a serious situation arises at work, your first instinct may be to panic. Unfortunately, severe anxiety and stress can result in a complete meltdown. This response can cause long-term damage to your health and lower your ability to perform optimally.
Many of the world's greatest achievers, including entrepreneurs, athletes and artists, could not have reached their level of success without learning how to stay extremely calm under pressure. They have the ability to develop and maintain a particular state of psychological readiness, a mental preparedness they summon on demand.
Whether you're an athlete or own your own company, poise is a prerequisite to peak performance. When you're composed, sufficiently practiced and self-assured (strong enough to move mental mountains), you are poised for success.
Here are eight tips to help you keep your cool in stressful situations:

1. Slow down.
If possible, don't react immediately. Instead, be patient and collect as much information as possible. Ask yourself, Is this really going to matter a year from now? If the answer is yes, step back to remove yourself somewhat from the situation. Instead of seeing yourself as an active participant, try to view yourself as a representative of your company. This perspective will help you remain less emotional and improve your ability to make decisions.
2. Stay positive.
When stressful situations occur, your mind may go in a thousand directions and some of your thoughts may be negative. The more your mind wanders, the more difficult it will be for you to remain calm. Stop yourself from beginning to imagine the worst-case scenario. Instead, let go of negative thoughts and refocus your mind on something positive, no matter how small.
3. Never ask "what if?"
This worst question you could ask yourself or others in the middle of a crisis begins with "what if." This line of questioning induces sheer panic and forces you to process situations that have not occurred and may never happen.
"What if" questions compound the fear and escalate the problem. Say your company has failed to deliver a project on time. Your first instinct may be to think, What if my client decides to hire someone else? That thought could easily lead to the question "What if I don't make payroll this month?" Instead, focus on the facts and work on a solution.
4. Take care of your body.
If you make your personal health a priority, you'll be better equipped to handle a crisis. Eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly and receive plenty of sleep. Exercise lowers the level of stress hormones and helps the body function at its highest level. By improving your health, you'll increase your self-control, memory and emotional intelligence -- important characteristics that will help you respond well to an emergency.

**If you sit on the question 🤔 long enough you will find the answer.**

Keeping calm in a critical situation is not an easy thing to do, especially when others are looking up to you for solutions. As a human, we are bound to make mistakes because we are not perfect and we can never be perfect so the moment you make a mistake you should realize that is not the end of life, the next thing to look out for is the solution.

In this environment, you should not allow the tension to take away your joy and rip you off thinking about the solution. If you think you need to leave that place for some time to get a solution kindly do so.

Again, when you are in a critical situation always know that it's not advice you listen to although some might look at the solution at that present moment but can later have some bad consequences later so, therefore, know the kind of advice you listen to.

Take deep breaths: Deep breathing can help you slow down your heart rate and lower your stress levels.

Focus on the present moment: Try to focus on what's happening in the moment rather than worrying about what might happen in the future or dwelling on the past. Don't over think.

Use positive self-talk: Use positive affirmations or self-talk to help you stay calm and focused.

This is an important subject to talk about and educate people about as well. Every point you laid out is valid.

I'll just add that how to calm someone is, shows how mature the person is. This means that the ability to stay calm in stressful situations says a lot about the maturity of the person.

This is something I found out in a quote and I so much believe it's true. It is someone that has passed through a lot of life-humbling challenges that'll find it easy to be calm at all times.

Anytime I find myself in a stressful situation, I'll just remind myself that if I want to act with maturity, I need to remain calm. It has helped me a lot.

Another thing I feel will help us all to be calm is to ensure that we listen more than talk whenever we are in a stressful situation. I believe that doing the act of listening will help us to be calm and start thinking constructively.

There are numerous benefits to keeping calm in difficult situations. Irrespective of the name used to describe the situation, a big evaluation can only happen only if you take care of yourself. No matter the level of damage or burden it is necessary to stay calm and allow your instinct to determine your state of health.

Being calm can bring a lot of things, one of which is having control over the situation. Critical and noncritical it is necessary that to pass through that storm or critical stage you need to be yourself and be able to think through ok how to navigate.

Even if you have been rejected or denied, you cannot reevaluate if you are not calm. Otherwise, one will just be doing the same mistake or keep falling without any breakthrough.

Calmness brings a sound mind and grants you that instinct to be able to achieve that goal and surpass that critical stage.

Keeping calm in a critical situation is a very important thing to do to avoid regrets. Some issues can steer up your anger while some can frustrate your patience that all you will want to do at the moment is just spew out hurtful words due to the circumstances and tension of the moment.

We all need to prepare our minds for the worst scenario that might want to take place and learn how to be calm. There see a lot of benefits attached to being calm in a situation and one of them is that it prevents you from saying what you will later regret; once you've said a thing it can't be reversed again.

Another benefit is that it helps you live a peaceful life with others around you. Unlike when there's a fight, there won't be peaceful coexistence between you and people but whenever there's calmness when issues arise it promotes peace.

**Life is good**
