I think it would reduce the rate of crime to a certain extent.
This Is based on the fact that a lot of armed robbers have been making use of the motorcycle for series of robbery in the state.

But rather than throwing a complete ban on okada riders, I feel the government should look for measures to provide employment for these okada riders.
As rendering them jobless would also increase the rate of crime in the country.

I feel placing a ban on okada with out giving the okada riders any means of livelihood would be harsh.
It would only increase the rate of unemployment and also the level of crime rate in the country.

Government can not ban motorcycles because it wont be funny at all , well said that it has both the good side of it and as well the bad side , those that are using it in he wrong way are the one government should try to apprehende not generally ban.
Some people source of life living in from motorcycles if they did not do work in a day there is no how they can fee themselves.
At least it serve as a means of survival for some people out there , and motorcycle is all over every places in Nigeria .

@nagiano you said government should look for a measure to provide employment nagiano you are funny , so you are think government can create employment in this generation where you will see an employment advert to recruit just only five hundred candidates and over twenty thousand candidate will apply.
Most of those Young guys riding Motorcycles popularly known as okada are university graduate but since they did not have any source of income then they have to do something to live .
Our government are not ready to look after any body wealfear , you find a way yourself to put food on your table.

@abbey:. Well you have a point there. We have robbers that make use of tricycles and even taxis to perform their operations...

Even though we have robbers that make use of buses and tricycles for their operations.
I just feel the major reason why motorcyclists were banned was because the crime rate from motorcycle was to pronounced.

@abbey:. The government cares less about the survival of the people.
They only care about what they stand to benefit nothing more.
The fact that a lot of people would loss their jobs if the motorcycle is banned, means nothing to the government.

@nagiano:
I would answer no to the above question.
The reason for my answer would be because crime is a separate entity on its own and the use of okada is just as a means of transportation.
Now that okada has been banned, it would definitely reduce crime through that means, no doubt, but it won't take away crime totally.
The security operatives should work better in ensuring the safety of the nation's.
Thanks

@Osaroju:. Despite the ban of okada on certain areas like express ways in Lagos.
The level of crime is still pronounced, so it still makes no difference at all...
