I think I'll do like a serie with this topic, since by the grace of God, I can say that I am expert in the field of CV writing and application related issues. I have over 5 years experience as a CV writer, I have organised and held successful online and offline seminars on the subject matter.
That aside. My first tip for this series is "leave no time gap in your working experience".
If you're familiar with CVs or you've written one yourself before, you would know about the WORKING EXPERIENCE part, where you get the opportunity to show all the areas you have work before.
One thing that people do not know, this section is a very important aspect of your CV as it can trigger something in the interviewer/employer that can become a game changer for you.
Depending on the position begin applied for, some times we suggest that you apply with previous similar roles/responsibilities handles in the past at former organisations, but that may not be the case for everyone.
Some personal may not have the luxury of having an experience in what they are currently applying for. Whatever the case be, leave no time gap in your CV.
I was at a seminar recently where an HR representative told us that as HR, one thing they look out for is the time you spent doing stuffs and that they may spot something that will interest them in you from there.
Whatever be the case be, always leave no time gaps in your CV
