Hello and good morning to all of the amazing members of the unique forum, BENEYOYO. Let me begin by wishing you all a Happy New week ahead.

Just like my last post which welcomed us to the new month of May and stressed on the fact that we all need to have a high level of faith to operate this month in order to receive and achieve whatever it is that we so desire.

This post here is asking a very striking question. This could as well cause a debate for many people because some would agree and others may not. Well, I do and I'm just going to drop some of the reasons why I feel so.

I was actually soliloquing while coming back from church yesterday on this matter.

I would like to definie being self taught as the ability of one to learn and master a skill by gathering the knowledge from different and various means but online and offline. This is seen different from the othwr end of it, which is when you are with a person or place and you learn that skill for a period there.

So I said to myself that for one being self taught, no one person may say that they taught you the skill singlehandedly, because you learn by various means.

I am also self taught in a particular skill, and I understand the rigours that come with it.

To be continued..

Can a skill be self taught? Well I will have to say no because of varieties of reasons.
1. The same way we have different names and different physical features even identical twins are so different from each other, that is the same way the way, the way we learn and assimilate knowledge is very different so because you were able to learn skill by yourself doesn't mean everyone will be able to learn skills by themselves. Some people strive well doing things theoretically why some people can only function and learn in a practical way and when I mean practical, I mean going to a particular place to learn, seeing the tools and everything that is needed to learn with their physical eyes, that is how they function while some people brains are designed in such a way that all they need is theory and they are good to go.

2. I also disagree because in the real sense not every skills can be self taught, I do not think it is possible!. I have a friend that is gifted with the hands of sewing but it was until she went to a fashion design shop that she could proudly say she is a professional. She sews my clothes and she was sewing before she went but after going to a fashion design shop, I saw a lot of significant changes in the way she sews.

3. All of us can not get the same facilities to be self taught. Let take for instance, all the things you did to be self taught in a particular skill, like you were able to get the best online stuffs to get trained with, Mr B may not be that opportune to get the exact best facilities to be self taught so Mr B can proudly say anywhere that he is a professional.

With all of these, am really glad, all the facilities have been made available for one to learn anyhow they feel they can function with.

Alright not every skill can be self thought.
Self thought means what an individual acquired himself or herself personally with out any one assistant.
Self thought is what an individual developed with in him or her.
Skills are knowledge gained either personally or from another person, skills are different in type and size it depends on the level you intend to study .
Every skill can not be self thought except few, skills are of different kinds in nature, but come to think of it about 70% of skills are been thought or been gained by another person who is known to be an expert in the line of such skili either for months or years.
In conclusion not every skill are self thought .thanks.

Yeah let me start by putting it this way that as the question has been asked that can every skill be self-taught so as to be self-reliant or to be a master of it and be able to use it as it may be.

My response to this is that every skill cannot be self-taught as one can give it try actually but for one to be perfect or to be a master at it that will be needed to learn from someone that is experienced and good at it.

Though there are several skills one can learn by herself or herself which will make the learner to be self-reliant and have the needed skill on the job that is being learnt or the scale that is being learnt.

What I have to say is that for all the skills to be learnt by one person is practically not possible because I'll be time one will not be able to cope that even if we start from the easy part there will be need that one is to progress and get to the tougher path and without the guide and knowledge of someone that knows it it will be hard for such a person to be good at it or to master the knowledge as it should be.

I think there are lots of information on the internet as of today which can guide one to learn the skill personally and all these can be found on YouTube on Instagram and Facebook on Twitter Google plus and others to mention but a few.

Although one can learn but it will get to a point that when we need someone that will put us through and without the person this knowledge will not be completed, this is my view thank you very much.

Most skills can be self thought and the few we think can't actually need little input from external source to internalise the learning. The truth is, learning happens with 70% effort from the learner and 30% from the teacher. In our modern time assume self thought is the utilisation of learning platforms to maximise the understanding of a course.

You have to know something even exist before you get to learn about them in the first place and this knowing, sometimes, comes from others. Some other times learning happens faster with someone holding your hands to navigate the journey.

I think we must learn to know what the situation at hand demands and working in line with its peculiarities. This is wisdom. It's not a rocket science to know when or not to ask for help in any learning journey.

Most things can be self-thought in patience and consistency on the part of the learner, but sometimes fast and effective learning occurs with someone, who has been there or currently there guides on the process.

Thank you for your write up.

Hmm!

Not every skill can be self-taught because some things can’t be easy unless there’s someone to guide you through.

We all have to come to school to learn because we know there is some hidden knowledge we might not be privileged to unless some open our eyes to it. Things which can be achieved within some months can be extended to a year if there is no one to guide through the process.

The internet has contributed to teaching and imparting knowledge in all areas - learning of skills is not left out. We can learn unique skills online and also become perfect if we are dedicated and committed to learning.

In this article, I would like to advise youths not to be a jack of all trades - once you’ve picked a trade you are passionate about, make sure you are committed to learn, unlearn and relearn.
