A balanced diet is one that provides an adequate intake of energy and nutrients for maintenance of the body and therefore good health. A diet can easily be adequate for normal bodily functioning, yet may not be a balanced diet. An ideal human diet contains fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, water and fibre all in correct proportions. These proportions vary for each individual because everyone has different metabolic rates and levels of activity.

Malnutrition results from an unbalanced diet, this can be due to an excess of some dietary components and lack of other components, not just a complete lack of food. Too much of one component can be as much harm to the body as too little. Deficiency diseases occur when there is a lack of a specific nutrient, although some diet related disorders are a result of eating an excess.

An adequate diet provides sufficient energy for the performance of metabolic work, although the energy food is in an unspecified form. A balanced diet provides all dietary requirements in the correct proportions. Ideally this would be 1/7 fat, 1/7 protein and 5/7 carbohydrate.

Energy is provided by carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Proteins are a provider of energy in an emergency, but are primarily used as building blocks for growth and repair of many body tissues. These energy providing compounds are needed in large quantities in our diet so are described as macro nutrients.

We also need much smaller amounts of other nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals. Because much smaller quantities are needed for a balanced diet these are known as micro nutrients. Despite the small quantities needed these are essential to provide a healthy diet as they have specific roles in metabolic reactions and as structural components.

Within the cells of our body, the nutrients ingested are converted to other compounds which are then used for metabolism and other cellular reactions. Starch, a major carbohydrate is converted to glucose which can be then synthesised into fat for storage, proteins are synthesised from amino acids, and phospholipids are made from glycerol and fatty acids. However there are some organic compounds which despite being essential for a healthy diet cannot be made by cells so must be provided by diet. These are essential amino acids, essential fatty acids and vitamins.

We have to perform multiple tasks throughout the day in order to earn more money however we forget that good health is as necessary for our healthy life as air and water for the body. We forget to take proper food in timely manner, daily exercises, proper rest, etc to just earn some false wealth. We should never forget that our health is a real wealth of the life. It is true for all that Health is Wealth.

A good health reduces the stress level and promotes healthy life without any sufferings. We should always be aware of our health and go for regular health checkup. We should eat balanced food having fresh fruits, salad, green leafy vegetables, milk, egg, etc in timely manner in order to maintain the good health. A good health also need some daily physical activities, proper rest and sleep, cleanliness, healthy environment, fresh air and water, personal hygiene, etc. In order to reduce our rush between hospital and home, maintain a good health is better idea. Maintaining a good health is a good habit which should be practiced from childhood with the help of parents.

In earlier days, life was not so hectic. It was quite simple and free of too many challenges with healthy environment in comparison to these days. People were healthy as they had to perform all the daily routine activities by their own hand and body. But now, life in the technological world has become easy and comfortable but hectic because of the competitions. This days, easy life is not possible as everyone wants to earn more money to get better life than others. This days, living life has become costly and tough as well as unhealthy as everything like air, water, environment, food, etc has become contaminated, infected and polluted.

People have to work for at least 9 to 10 hours in the offices by just sitting on the chair without any physical movement. They come to home in the late evening or night and become too tired to perform any household work or exercise. Again in the morning they get up late from bed and do some necessary works like bath, brush, breakfast, etc and go to their office. In this way, they live their daily routine only to earn money and not their life for themselves. It is very necessary to earn money for fulfilling some basic needs however, it is also necessary to live a healthy and peaceful life which needs a good health.

Thanks for sharing this.

Permit to add this; A balanced diet contains all the six classes of food in the right proportion.
Not forgetting the basic nutrients we need in our body which can be classified into major and micronutrients.
The vitamins and minerals being to the classification of micronutrients. This means it should be consumed in little quantity.

Do not forget to pay concentration to the two major types of vitamins. These are water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins.

Remember, that the water-soluble vitamins consist of vitamins B and C while the fat-soluble vitamin contains vitamins A, D, E, and k.

Do not forget to read up the importance of these above-mentioned vitamins.

One of the best ways to live a healthy diet is by eating balanced diet.

Balanced diet refers to the food that contains all classes of food.

The best form of diet is balanced diet.

Nice write up on balanced diet.

I strongly believe almost everyone is kind of familiar with what balanced diet is.

But I have one issue with dieting.

Which is knowing the right combinations of food to be taken in the morning, afternoon and night.

I would really appreciate if you can enlighten me on that.

The body produces some of the amino acids it needs.
It is also left for us to produce the remaining amino acid the body cannot produce from the food we eat.
But balanced diet is very very important for a healthy body.
Health is wealth.
