The Nigeria Labor Congress, NLC, on Saturday asked President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the payment of salaries to university staff in the country.

Chairman of the council, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, made the appeal at the end of the National Governing Council (NAC) meeting of the council in Abuja.

Due to the federal Government's 'No Work, No Pay' policy, the salaries of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and others were not withheld during the strike.

Wabba said: As a gesture of goodwill, we have ordered President Muhammadu Buhari to pay all the salaries of the university staff.

"It is difficult for the affected university staff to cope with the economic challenges in the country."

Wabba said this review is necessary considering that the Naira has weakened significantly against other world currencies.
