Recently I watched a health program on mental condition. For the first time I heard a therapist talk about the ten seconds breathing therapy.
This caught my attention and I listened more. The ten seconds breathing is a breathing pattern that reduces anxiety or help people get to sleep.
These are the brief steps:
1)When faced with a terrible situation , first look for a stable position ,whether sitting or standing.
2) Focus on taking a long , deep breath in and out with your nose. For the first 3 seconds.
3)Hold your breath for the next 5 seconds.
4) Lastly, breathe out forcefully for the remaining 2 secs.
You can repeat this cycle three or four more times.
It truly works because you'll feel light hearted, it also reduces hypertension before taking any action about a situation you're confronted with.
